We’re almost at the end of Kyal and Kara’s Toowoon Bay Reno and while it’s sad to see this journey end, it’s also exciting as we soon get to see the finished product unveiled.
Along the way we’ve seen Kyal and Kara’s beautiful upstairs deck revealed, their stunning kitchen with butler’s pantry unveiled, the transformation that new windows give to a home and now we get to see the downstairs of the house – lovingly referred to as “the rats nest” - transformed.
As this downstairs living space doesn’t need kitchen cabinetry, tiling, or bathroom needs such a waterproofing, this space has come together very quickly! New Wideline windows are being installed, gyprocking, flooring and painting transforms the space into an open rumpus. The adjacent bathroom and laundry are taking longer to transform as there is so much more to do in these wet areas.
Kyal has built a custom made cavity door to help block out the noise from the rumpus room -which he has turned into a man cave through an impulse purchase! Kara has given him a 6-month deadline on the impulse purchase, and the man cave.
As the inside is nearing completion, it’s time to start carpentry work on the outside of the house. A rear pergola is built to give the back of the house some dimension.
Out in the studio we see the completed kitchen. Kyal and Kara have been smart with their layout of this small area to maximise the kitchen space to include plenty of bench top space, and still have room for conveniences like a large fridge and a dishwasher. The raked ceilings help to make the area feel large as well as allow more build in storage space.
In the next episode of Toowoon Bay Reno we’ll see the whole house revealed! Kyal and Kara have two more bathrooms, a kitchen and all the styling to complete in time before episode 10 airs.
Stay tuned for the final reveal of Toowoon Bay Reno coming up!
