How to maximise your view when choosing a Window finish

We purchased our first home in Coffs Harbour, a house with good bones on a north facing block. The house was the perfect size to start a family and boasted a small but enticing view out the back. We knew that we could make something of that view, and add value to the home by starting there. After a few searches online we came across the Paragon range at Wideline and fell in love with the architectural finish that it provides. After discussing the product range with our builder, we visited the Wideline showroom to explore their vast range and talk to the experts.

As we had a goal of maximising the north facing view – we needed to select a window range that held maximum pane width, yet private enough to not need much furnishing, and keep out the glare of the harsh Australian sun. We spoke to the team in the Wideline showroom and came across the Paragon range paired with the Grey VLam glass that could achieve that, the grey tint option also helped us to manage the glare while being inside. Paired together, visually the glass and the textured matte finish were the ultimate luxury in window design.

Since living in the house, we have noticed the house feels cool in Summer, and toasty in Winter. The thermal qualities promised in the product have been proven –we experience the best of all seasons. The premium laminated glass also assists with noise reduction and protection, so we can play the music loud on weekends and not worry about the neighbours!

How to select your Window finish

With all the practicalities of the range selection in mind, we also wanted to choose a range and finish that would complement our other exterior design selections, yet be bold enough to add design value. The Textura finish on the Paragon range is a subtle feature that elevates the design of the home. We chose the Monument colour in Textura finish to compliment our shale grey exterior cladding. If you are looking for an elevated finish, the Textura option is a great lift to any design.

Make sure to bring samples of your exterior finishing when visiting the showroom so that the Wideline team can help you choose the best finish for your project. You can also download the colour brochure and pair against your exterior finishing at home.

How to create outside-in living

Part of the great Australia dream is to own your own home, but even more than that is the ultimate goal of enjoying that outside-in lifestyle. A large component of our Coffs to Cali renovation was being able to walk outside onto the back deck where we entertain. Our design hosted a built-in barbeque where we used aluminium louvres to block out the neighbours, but operated to manage cooking ventilation and keep an aesthetically pleasing vacation / resort feeling.

The Wideline sliding stacker doors are robust, and the Paragon range allowed us to get the maximum span of the window pane due to the so we could take in more of that view when indoors.

How to select the right window style

While the main feature of the house was in the central part of the home with a large fixed window and bench seat, we wanted the remaining window selections in the renovation to be practical, sophisticated yet enable us to extend that flexibility of a Summer breeze without compromising on security.

In the downstairs studio we selected a bi-fold servery window, as a small space we needed to open the layout up as much as possible, while lots of natural light can achieve this visually, the servery window enabled us to have a physical extension of the space – opening to a breakfast bar which became a new outdoor breakfast dining space.

Throughout the bedrooms, we went for an awning style window to let the fresh air breeze in and not have to worry about the rain entering the interiors or security. The Wideline Paragon range has many window selections to choose from, but what impressed us about the vast range was the hardware available for peace of mind in bedroom windows. The Truth Maxim latch and Truth Encore operator hardware solutions are suited for bedroom windows, and have ensured the security of our home without compromising on style. In the bathrooms, we took inspiration from our last overseas holiday opting for a resort style louvre window that functions as ventilation while showering, with the Grey VLam glass finish providing privacy.

Paragon Range

The Paragon range is a leading architectural option for anyone looking to renovate and maximise a view in a home. The elegance of the Paragon range and aesthetic appeal is what drew us initially, but the functionality and lifestyle are what make it a great recommendation for interior-design, building and renovating your dream home.
